The annual holiday tradition delights and inspires
Our absolute favorite time of the year: Holidays in NYC and the unveiling of the Bergdorf Goodman windows. They never disappoint! This year’s theme is “Inspired.” Each window represents one of the arts: Music, Architecture, Literature, Dance, Painting, and Sculpture. Exquisite detail, craft and creativity, unmatched. Pure luxury.
Architecture is represented by a mannequin in a blueprint dress, New York buildings, and a massive Anglepoise lamp. Literature surrounds a stylish mannequin, dressed as a character from The Great Gatsby, with portraits of authors and quotations from their work.Painting is represented by a studio filled with wooden objects and artists’ model figures, with a mannequin perched on a model horse, with a vividly colored painting drawing the eye. The window for Music matches a mannequin in a glittering sequinned dress with a Jazz Age stage made entirely of brass instruments.
A ballerina in a delicately flowered dress, lit in gold, twirls on a backdrop of giant clockwork gears.
A wintry window for Sculpture is filled with ice statues of a bear, poodle, penguin, eagle, and a replica of the classical Greek Discobolus of Myron.
Also visible are a deer, a monkey, an elephant, and a giraffe. The mannequin is dressed in stylish white beret and an a-line outfit covered in snowy motifs.
